Lilies Nail Polish was a brand I created in graduate school. Lilies allowed me to explore product design, packaging, branding, advertising, and marketing.
#RACLife started out as a social media campaign. As a marketing team we agreed to let this hashtag run its course with very little instruction from us. #RACLife was a way for students to engage in social media however they saw fit, with the only expectation being that they used the hashtag. As the presence grew on social media, then we took the hashtag beyond the digital realm into physical spaces. We put #RACLife stickers throughout the building, made t-shirts, and created posters to add to the #RACLife fever.
YES! I said yes! - to wedding invitations, save the dates, programs & any other wedding print needs. Stereotype me as that typical girl; I love weddings! In my spare time I design wedding invites & such, and I am always eager for more clients! See my contact page to get your designs started!
During my three year tenure with Georgia Southern University I worked within the department of Campus Recreation and Intramurals. The projects, both graphic and otherwise, that I was able to engage in while working there were some of the most rewarding aspects of graduate school. I was afforded creative freedom in most everything I was assigned, therefore expanding my skill set as a designer. These posters, flyers, and other print materials are just a snapshot of my work.
The end result of a Master of Fine Arts degree is a visual thesis. My thesis topic included branding, marketing, market research, and advertising.
Artist (Designer) Statement
The basis of this project is informed by the research of my target market, 18-24 year olds - a transient population, currently classified as the Millennial Generation. This population has been neglected as a target market for Do-It-Yourself (DIY) and hands-on projects. I have found through my research a way to market the DIY field to the 18-24 year old population through emotion and empowerment. DIY behavior is a value-creating activity and impacts the lives and personal development of those who participate; marketing DIY projects to this demographic will not only get them involved in hands-on activities, but also enrich their lives.
The essence of The Project Shop is best portrayed in the mission statement of the brand:
“We believe in solutions. The Project Shop began with a passion for hands-on projects and conquering challenges. Geared towards the millennial and upcoming generations, The Project Shop targets the transient person for all their Do-It-Yourself (DIY) needs. Our goal is to provide products for the novice as well as the expert. For the founders, The Project Shop, was about understanding DIY projects and their creators. We believe that as generations continue to grow in the digital age, we will lose that “hands-on” mentality. The Project Shop’s goal is to use technology to help build the DIY community for new generations. We want people to be creators and find solutions that require a little more “hands on” versus just buying the first available thing. We offer products for a wide range of skill sets and we know the value in making something your own.”
For years my main focus has been print design, however during my thesis project I was able to challenge myself in new ways. I created the story board, shot the footage, and edited the final production. This was an exciting new adventure for me and I loved the challenge. Personally, I find the art of cinematography fascinating. I have great respect for the profession, and I was very fortunate to be able to dabble in cinematography.
While I was working with Campus Recreation and Intramurals, I created and managed the development of the yearly program event calendar. Not only was this calendar used as an internal document, but it was distributed at recruiting events to future students as well as on campus to current students.
The most fun and lighthearted design opportunities that I have been a part of is t-shirt designs. I prefer to have smaller designs on the front and I like to utilize the back of the shirt for bigger more intricate designs. After my time at Georgia Southern, I have quite the collection of shirts I have designed!
This shirt was designed to give to intramural participants who were the champions in their respective sports.
This shirt was created as a part of the summer archery camp program within Campus Recreation and Intramurals Club Sport Program.
Race 2 Break was a spring 5K event, and this was the shirt given to race participants
This shirt was given to Iron Eagle Challenge participants. The Iron Eagle Challenge is an outdoor adventure race, comprised of biking, canoeing, running, and mystery events.
The True Blue 5K is annual start of Georgia Southern Homecoming. This was the 2015 race participant shirt.
